2 To start a group project about weddings. Think about the research that you completed about weddings last lesson – what do you now know about weddings in Christianity, Judaism & Islam? In Muslim countries Muslim marriages are often arranged – what are the positive & negative points of arranged marriages that you found out for your homework? You are communicating & problem solving…

3 You are communicating…  You are going to begin a project today all about weddings. To prepare for this task we need to think about wedding vows – what do you know about Christian wedding vows (these are the vows that you would hear at most church weddings)?  The traditional Christian wedding vows are something like these: ‘I (your name), take you (the person you’re marrying’s name), to be my (wife/husband) to have & to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness & health, to love & to cherish; form this day forward until death do us part.’  Do people have to use these vows?  Let’s look at some people who wrote their own wedding vows… 1. Jade Goody’s wedding vows www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VwE97ZB32c 2. Dawn & Pete’s wedding renewal vows (from Gavin & Stacey)  Where did these two ceremonies take place? What do you think should be included in wedding vows or do you think people should stick to the traditional vows?

4  You need to work in pairs – or groups of 3 at the most! Your task…  You have 2 lessons (today is the first of those 2 lessons) to write your own wedding vows.  You need to write a set for the bride & a set for the groom.  You need to produce an illustrated copy of these vows.  Remember that the word ‘vow’ just means ‘promise’. Think back to the wedding vows we’ve watched, you can write…  Serious vows  Emotional vows  Funny vows  Realistic vows  Take your inspiration from songs or a poem  Write vows for a celebrity couple…etc  You have today’s lesson to write a draft copy of your vows.  Then, you will have next lesson to produce the display copy of your vows. Who can tell us what we are doing? You are communicating, working with others & problem solving…

5 By the end of this lesson you should have… Designed your marriage vows for the bride & the groom.  Have you completed the things that you should have done? Discuss as a pair…  What do you need to get done for your homework to ensure that you can start making your display copy of your marriage vows next lesson?  Remember that you only have next lesson to complete your display copy.
