Student Step by Step Guide

2 Basic Essay… Paragraph One:
The introductory paragraph begins with an attention grabber. Then, restate and define the topic.

3 Basic Essay… Paragraph One (continued): State three arguments, explanations, examples, or descriptive details. Conclude with a transition sentence that leads to the next paragraph.

4 Body Paragraphs… Paragraphs 2, 3, 4:
Use a different transition at the beginning of each paragraph. Restate one argument, explanation, example, or descriptive detail. Then, expand on it with evidence that supports it.

5 Body Paragraphs… Paragraphs 2, 3, 4:
Each paragraph needs an introductory sentence and a concluding sentence. These are the paragraphs where it is important to use spectacular word choice to show your vocabulary knowledge.

6 Body Paragraphs… Paragraphs 2, 3, 4: Use elaborated examples, sensory details, and a variety of support. Make sure the relationship between the main idea and the supporting details of each paragraph is clear.

7 Basic Essay… Paragraph Five: Conclude by restating your topic in words that are different from those in paragraph one. Summarize paragraphs two, three, and four. Draw a one sentence conclusion. End with a statement that makes the reader think or smile.
