You must have a good first degree, preferably in art history or a related discipline, and a basic knowledge of a range of European languages. A thorough knowledge of the history of Western European painting, , and familiarity with the National Gallery collection would be advantageous. You should have a good understanding of collection documentation in an archive, library or museum environment and experience of bibliographic research. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required and the ability to work quickly and to agreed deadlines is important.
