3. Gusta vs. GustaN Gusta is used when the person likes one thing OR ¨to do something¨ (like an infinitive from the vocab sheet) Gustan is used when the person likes MORE than one thing. EX….Me gusta chocolate. Me gusta bailar. EX….Me gustan los zapatos. Me gustan las vacaciones.

4. The problem with LE Since Le gusta can refer to he likes, she likes, or you formal like, you have to use CONTEXT CLUES to know who you are talking about!

5. INVISIBLE QUESTIONS WITH GUSTAR Do you remember the invisible words that exsist when you create an invisible question? Do, Does, Are, Is…..etc… Do and Does are used almost EVERY TIME you make a question with Gusta. EX: ¿Te gusta pizza? ¿Les gusta jugar al béisbol?

6. Expressing Dislikes To say you or someone else does not like something, you simply say NO in front of the me, te, le, les, nos or os gusta. Remember that if you are just making a statement, you use NO 1 time. If you are answering a question negatively, you use NO 2 times. EX….¿Te gusta el bróculi? No, no me gusta el bróculi. No me gusta correr.

7. Being repetitive (duh!) In Spanish they often say things repetitively, which seems annoying and unnecessary in English. In Spanish they add A mí, to me gusta, A ti to te gusta, A Ud., A él, or A ella to le gusta, A nosotros to nos gusta, or A Vosotros to os gusta. EX….A mí me gusta escuchar música. This is literally saying ¨to me, I like to listen to music.

8. More Examples A ti te gusta leer, ¿no? This is saying, to you, you like to read, don´t you? The only time this is really necessary is for LE GUSTA, when you could be talking about several different people. But in Spanish they do it with everyone, not just LE. On your test, you will have to know how to say that people like or dislike things BOTH ways..short AND Long.
