1 You’re the experts, YourTutor is the safety net.
To Australia’s teachers: You’re the experts, YourTutor is the safety net.

2 To Australia’s teachers:
We aim to support your workload, support parents, and grow students’ persistence, confidence, and learning outcomes.

3 What we hear from teachers:

4 98 per cent of teachers feel their time is increasingly taken up by bureaucratic, administrative, and compliance tasks 1,000 teachers surveyed by the Australian Education Union, ACT Branch, September 2014

5 Out-of-hours workload is increasing because of online delivery:

6 Teachers haven’t been good at that - separating work and home.
10 or 20 years ago, you never would text a parent, but there are more ways we can communicate now and a lot of time can be spent with this kind of communication. Teachers haven’t been good at that - separating work and home. They’ll take home certain parts of their work to at home but we all know that with teaching you can spend hours and hours and hours every week. It’s endless and so we’ve got to have the disconnect. Dr Nicola Johnson, Senior Lecturer School of Education, Federation University

7 Students: After-hours, Australian students study 6 hours a week; an hour more than the OCED average.
Education at a Glance report released by the OECD, Public school 5.1 hours/week, Private school 7.4 hours/week.

8 How do Australian students compare…?
US and Japanese students were given an impossible maths problem. The US students struggled for 15 seconds then gave up. The Japanese students were still struggling after an hour. Study by Dr James Stigler, The National Commission on Mathematics And Science Teaching For The 21st Century

9 We all have different skills.
Anxiety Worry Interest Flow Control Relaxation Boredom Apathy High Low Skill level Challenge level We all have different skills. Every student approaches a challenge uniquely, and have a different ‘struggle’ limit before they give up. 34 Babs Helleman, Head of English, The Kings' School NSW
YourTutor offers an independent voice, not a voice that will rewrite the assignment, story or essay, but a critical voice that can assist the students to improve their work. There is no doubt that those students who use the service regularly have benefited. Just receiving feedback that makes them think about their writing is a huge advantage. Babs Helleman, Head of English, The Kings' School NSW

36 ZeMing Jiang, Year 11 student, Western Australia
What a lovely experience. Actually focused on how to tackle the question instead of just giving me answers. As a Chinese student studying in Australia, It is kinda hard to understand all the concepts in class,Because I’m a ESL speaker ,I would need that extra help, but the teacher wont have enough time to help everyone,This is where Yoututor really stand out from the rest of the online tutoring sites. At first I thought its another tutor website with tonnes of scripted lines and bots,I didn't give much hope to it ,until I tried it today,Its just like a tutor that helps you in every subject. Now, not all tutors can do that and all of this are just for FREE.I will be using Yoututor more often, improving on my English skills and essay writing. I'm glad to be one of the students witnessing the turning point of future education. ZeMing Jiang, Year 11 student, Western Australia
