2 Abstract המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 2 The PCI Express is primarily intended as a high performance serial interface targeted for use in desktop, mobile, workstation, server, communications platforms, and embedded devices. As with any modern high speed PCB design, the performance of an actual PCI Express interconnect is highly dependent on the implementation Appendix B. This paper describes measurements of a differential transmission line on a PCB card with trace length changes, crosstalk and connectors at a high- speed frequency of 2.5 Gbps (GHz). To demonstrate the feasibility of using connectors and investigate crosstalk with standard FR4 epoxy PCBs, informative interconnect loss and jitter values will be measured through HyperLynx simulations and presented in spreadsheet format. Trace lengths will be gradually increased to show the limits of compliance. In order to ensure interoperability between the PCI Express transmitter and receiver, we will stress a typical interconnect design by simulating (with the HyperLynx tool) with stressed data patterns.

3 System description המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 3 The test circuits model: 1.The trace change circuit – a driver (cx20462), a receiver ( cx20462 ), a transmission line ( resistance – 68.1 ohms ). 2.The crosstalk circuit – three transmission lines (one victim and two aggressors with the resistance of 66.2 and 66.7 ohms accordantly), a driver (cx20462), a receiver (cx20462). 3.The connectors circuit – a driver (cx20462), a receiver (cx20462), a transmission line (resistance of – 67.8 ohms), a connector modeled by a capacitor of 250 fF and an inductor of 200 pHy and a resistor of 50 ohms (a RLC connector model popular in the industry). 4.The combined circuit – build of the three circuits above merged together. 5.All circuits were built on the PCB of the experiment.
