2 Abstract המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 2 The Access Control System consists of two major components. The first component is the ACS application. This application runs as a windows service, responding to events received from a CANOpen network. The second component, ACSWebApplication, implemented in a.NET environment, supplies a friendly web application user interface for configuring the ACS application, event handling and producing reports. This project concentrated on the Web Application part and its main goal was adding the functionality of searching the SQL Server database and producing reports about the system’s behavior to screen or printer.

3 System description המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 3 The system consists of two components, a windows service (ACS Application), which handles the events, and a web based user interface (ACSWebApplication), which configures the application. Each of these components can be operated without being dependant on the other. The connection between the modules is possible by accessing shared tables in the database. The web application supplies a friendly way to add CAN components, such as busses, controllers, boards and other devices, defines which actions should be taken when an event occurs, allows / denies users on components, manages users and components and produces reports.

Instead, a CANOpen network interface was used for simulation purposes. The system must be able to produce and organize reports using a user-friendly web application with ASP.NET technology. It must support access to an SQL server database and retrieving information for the reports using ADO.NET.
