2 Abstract המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 2 A bus tracking system can monitor buses movement and position anywhere in the world. Passengers may want to know when the next bus will arrive. The bus company may want to track all its buses at any given moment, gather information and statistics about each bus’s route, how long it takes to arrive at each station in the route, how long it takes to travel a certain route at different times of the day, etc. A bus tracking system can use various tools and devices to enable the above requirements. It can use Bluetooth components to enable communication between the buses and the stations and central stations. It can use GPS to determine a bus’s position relative to a station in its route at any given moment. It can use existing cellular infrastructure to enable real-time communication and updates between the buses, station and central stations. A bus can pass information to a station such as estimated arrival time, current position relative to the station or even advertisements. A bus can communicate with the central station, passing to it information about its route and position, and receive information such as next route, updates about new stations’ positions and also commercials and advertisements.

3 System description המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות High speed digital systems laboratory 3 The Bus Tracking System tracks a bus and gathers the ID of each station and the arrival time to the station along its route. At the end of the route when the bus reaches the central station, all the information is passed to the main computer and processed there. For part A, communication between the system modules is done using the Bluetooth protocol. For part B, bus positioning is done using GPS.

Software:  MPLab IDE C18 C Compiler  Microsoft Visual Studio, MFC. 4
