2 The AGENDA for RR Group Activity Next Week: You will be assigned to a group of 3-4 people. You will meet with these people for all 3 designated RR group times (see sheet). Each time you will participate in a Reader Response Activity. Before Thursday (April 23): Write your Reader Response Commentary based on the first 10 chapters by choosing at least 4 questions from the types of responses sheet. This should be at a minimum one full paragraph on what you read. The more you share on the paper, the more you will have to read and discuss with your group. Ideally, you want to have a full front-page written or more. Your commentary should include text evidence, inferences, and character or theme analysis. Remember, this is a commentary—NOT a plot summary of what you read! On Thursday (April 23): Reader Response Activity. Be ready to read and share with your group all that you have written. Everyone will read and share. Then, you will discuss the chapters in the book (with prompt questions given to you) and evaluate one of the peers in your group (the Peer Evaluation).

3 The PEER EVALUATION After each Reader Response activity, you will do a written Peer Evaluation for your group members (a different member for the first two and the last Reader Response will be a Self-Evaluation). We will go over this more in detail during class.

4 How to be SUCCESSFUL in the Reader Response Activity KEEP UP with the reading assignments. Write your BEST Reader Response! Come to class prepared and ready to READ and SHARE with your group. Get ACTIVELY INVOLVED in the discussion! Share your own unique ideas and insights. MIND YOUR MANNERS! LISTEN to each other, be OPEN to other’s thoughts and opinions, and be RESPECTFUL of one another. HAVE FUN!!!

5 In SUMMARY (write this down) Before Thursday (April 23): Write your Reader Response Commentary #1 on Chapters 1-10 by choosing at least 4 questions from the types of responses sheet.  REMEMBER: One full page is ideal. No plot summaries! Use text evidence with support! On Thursday (April 23): Be ready to read your Reader Response to your group, discuss the chapters, and complete your peer evaluation.
