1 PSS®E 34.0 Release Webinar 23 April 2015
Siemens Power Technologies International PSS®E 34.0 Release Webinar 23 April 2015

2 Announcements PSSE 34.0 will be available for download within the next few days You will receive an with the download link and new password. PTI User Group Meetings 2015 Europe May 5th-7th (PSS®E meeting on 6th, PSS®E training on the 7th) Prague, Czech Republic Ibis Praha Wenceslas Square US (filled to capacity) May 12th-14th (PSS®E meeting on 13th, PSS®E training on the 14th) New Orleans, Louisiana Crowne Plaza French Quarter PSS®E Customer Advisory Board Play an active role in directing the future of PSS®E Will be rolled-out during upcoming UGMs Look for information for how to participate in the next few weeks

3 PSS®E 34.0 Highlights Integrated Node-Breaker Support
Node-Breaker topology support in engine Automatic substation topology generation Novel approach for linking Bus-Branch and Node-Breaker worlds Node-Breaker contingency analysis Updated study file management system Improved power flow models Solution parameters saved in SAV, RAW and SEQ Support for branch names 12 Customizable ratings groups Results spreadsheets Geomagnetic Induced Current (GIC) improvements New dynamics models Many user interface, diagram, settings and plotter improvements

4 Automatic Substation Building
Choose from several common substation configurations (breaker and a half, ring bus, etc) Easily add multiple buses at different voltage levels 90% of the work is done for you. Terminals can easily be moved after the initial layout is generated

5 Linked Bus-Branch and Node-Breaker Diagrams
Visual indication and clickable link for substation diagram in bus-branch view Easily drill down to substation detail from the bus-branch model Customized substation diagrams will automatically be loaded if available, or diagrams will be create dynamically as needed.

6 Example Node-breaker Contingencies
fault line from bus 101 to bus 102 ckt 1 / open line with brkrs isolate branch from bus 201 to bus 202 ckt 2 / open line with brkrs fault bus 3005 / clear bus with brkrs disconnect swd sub 4 from node 5 to node 2 / open brkr or switch close swd sub 2 from node 1 to node 7 / close brkr or switch isolate swd sub 1 from node 3 to node 8 / isolate brkr with brkrs contingency "stuck_brkr_example" fault line from bus 101 to bus 102 ckt 1 / open line with brkrs isolate swd sub 1 from node 1 to node 2 / stuck brkr at remote term end Notes: PSS®E 34.1 will have expanded NB contingency support including automatic NB contingency generation

7 PSS®E 34 Node-Breaker Demo

8 Improved Study File Management System
Formally known as Scenarios Streamlined operation New Study Explorer view for simple file management

9 Power Flow Modeling Additions
Distributed generation mode and parameters in load model In-feed control mode for machines

10 Solution Parameters in RAW and SEQ
Power flow and short circuit solution parameters are stored in the SAV, RAW and SEQ files The exact solutions can be replicated when re-opening or transferring case data

11 Branch Names and 12 Ratings Sets
Branch names are supported Must be unique (future PSS®E versions will use as key fields for APIs, contingency definitions, reports, etc) There are now 12 ratings sets with customizable names and descriptions Use for various conditions, seasons, time limits, or anything you want. Select from these 12 ratings for single line diagram loading results, ACCC violations, etc

12 Results Spreadsheets Spreadsheets for results (and totals data) for network elements and aggregations Examples: Branch spreadsheet with all branch flows and losses Fixed shunts spreadsheet with actual MVAR Area spreadsheet with total load, losses and interchange

13 Dynamics Models New IEEE 421.5 Models
ST1C, ST5C, ST7C, AC1C, AC2C, AC3C, AC4C, AC5C, AC6C, DC1C, DC2C, AC6A New Governor Model (Pratt amp; Whitney Turboden turbine-governor) PWTBD1 New Machine Protection Model (V/Hz Generator Relay Model) VPERHZU1 The following user models have been converted to standard models DCTC1 is now DCTC1T LOEXR1 is now LOEXR1T
