3 History 2005-present: Revision to General Education 2008-09:Focus Carolina Fall 2009:Call for QEP Proposals January 2010: Four proposals selected February 2010: QEP Committee established August 2010: Draft QEP proposed Fall 2010:University-wide forum, website, continued development

4 Key Elements Within-the- Classroom (WTC): Experiences in a university classroom, on-campus laboratory, or virtual classroom Beyond-the-Classroom (BTC): Experiences outside a classroom setting(may or may not be for credit). Short term: Lecture by world leader, MLK service day, leadership seminar Long term: Living & Learning Community, research project, service learning course

5 Major course experiences Service Carolina Core International Research Leadership Students choose within and beyond the classroom experiences consistent with their needs, interests, career, and life goals. Step 1: Intentionally select experiences Internships
