2 About Princeton in Africa Our Mission: –To develop young leaders committed to Africa’s advancement. What We Do to Achieve It: –We match bright, talented, recent college graduates – passionate about Africa and committed to service – with organizations doing meaningful work across the continent for yearlong fellowships.

3 Princeton in Africa’s Growth Founded in 1999 by Princeton alums –That summer, 2 Fellows worked with the Int’l Rescue Committee in Rwanda Since then, we have placed more than 300 Fellows in 34 countries with 50+ partner organizations Rigorous selection process today –Last year 420 applications, ~11% selected –Now open to graduates from colleges & universities across the United States –Program offered on a need-blind basis

7 Princeton in Africa Funding An independent nonprofit organization –Affiliated with, but not funded directly by, Princeton Program made possible by friends who believe in the impact our Fellows can achieve –From$12 gifts from alums to a few grants from corporations & foundations (e.g. Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb) PLUS additional support from many partner organizations for Fellows ($ given through PiAf and $ / in-kind directly to Fellows) & in-kind from Princeton (free office space!)
