Intermediate Technology Applications Mrs. Strauss Period 2 1/13/12

1. Who can participate?  Boys with good grades and physical ability.  Any guy can really play football as long as they actually have a heart to play and can maintain passing grades.  If you can do these things then football can be your sport.  “The reason women don’t play football is because eleven of them would never wear the same outfit in public.” –John Madden

When?  Football usually starts in the end of the summer and goes through the fall.  Normal practices start in the summer at the end of the school year.  Lifting and Offseason practices happen throughout winter and spring.

Where?  Offseason lifting is in the weight room.  Offseason practices are usually in the gym.  Football practices in the summer are on the PND field. Games are at opponents stadiums or ours.

Why?  People love football and it teaches discipline, courage, and gives you physical and mental strength.  Football puts your body in great condition by testing you to your fullest.  After winning a football game there is a great deal of pride and respect even in the most intense of games.  “The road to Easy Street goes through the sewer”- John Madden

Time Commitment?  If you really have a love for football then all season there are things to do. Offseason, Pre Season, and Football season.  In the winter there are weight lifting’s at 6:45 in the morning with occasional other practices.  When summer starts there are practices everyday for 2 hours.  Games happen in the fall at times throughout the day.  “The game of life is a lot like football. You have to tackle your problems, block your fears, and score your points when you get the opportunity.” –Lewis Grizzard

Cost?  The cost for football is very high but there are many things you can do to shrink that amount.  It’s about 500 dollars for everything in football but all that can be paid off with fundraisers like Lift-A- Thon and Pizza Gift Cards.  The cost is worth it though because football is a lot of fun.  “Football is not a contact sport. It’s a collision sport. Dancing is a good example of a contact sport.” –Duffy Daugherty

Extra Stuff  Football shouldn’t be a regular sport you do, it should be something you really want and expect to excel in.  There is a lot to sacrifice to play and it’s not a walk in the park either.
