2. NEW ZEALAND … is a country in the south-western Pacific Ocean comprising two large islands (the North Island and the South Island) and numerous smaller islands. The indigenous Maori named New Zealand Aotearoa, which is usually translated into English as The Land of the Long White Cloud.

4. Geographical features New Zealand comprises two main islands (called the North and South Islands in English) and a number of smaller islands. The North and South Islands are separated by the Cook Strait. The total land area, 268,680 square kilometres, is a little less than that of Italy and Japan, and a little more than the United Kingdom.

13. What is it famous for? There are a lot of species of flightless birds. The most most famous of them are kiwis. Sport has a major role in New Zealand's culture (rugby). The haka is a traditional genre of Māori dance.
