3 Early Life Born in Braintree, Massachusetts Born on October 30 th 1735. Adams late teens, went to collage in Harvard. 1755 he received a Bachelors degree. After collage he went to Worcester, Massachusetts So he could think of career He chose Law TC

4 Family  Child of Susanna Boylston and John Adams  He was oldest of three children.  He had two brothers  Peter Boylston and Elihu  Married Abigail Smith in 1764.  They had 4 children:  Abigail, John Quincy, Charles, and Thomas Boylston. TC

5 Career  Center of political life during American Revolution  Completed the Treaty of Paris  This ended the American Revolution.  Part of 1 st & 2 nd Continental Congress.  He was vice president to George Washington  1779: became 2 nd president of the America TC

6 Career 2 John Adams was also a representive over seas in Europe.John Adams was also a representive over seas in Europe. 7 Later years  Ran for president for a second time  But lost to Thomas Jefferson.  After defeat, retired into a private life.  He went back home in 1800.  He was very depressed after his loss His son Charles Quincy died of Alchahol.His son Charles Quincy died of Alchahol.
