SUCCESS Be Prepared –Be on time –Have materials book notebook pen pencil Paper Have homework ready

SUCCESS Greeting! Leave a positive impression –Approach the person –Make eye contact –Shake the other person’s hand –Say “Hello, my name is …..”

SUCCESS Results of Positive Greeting –Gets you started on the right foot with new people –Looks strong –Shows people you know how to handle yourself in a positive manner

SUCCESS Be Attentive Communicate interest Make and Keep eye contact Lean slightly forward – or sit up straight Avoid Distractions Pay Attention to what is being said

SUCCESS Observing –Determine feelings of others – teacher, parents, students –Watch a person’s facial expressions and body movements –Consider how that person feels –Determine what action ( if any) is appropriate

SUCCESS Listening –Listen for content of what is being said –Learn how what is being said affects you –Determine what action the person wants you to take

SUCCESS Everything you do, Every decision you make, IS A CHOICE Each life CHOICE Has a CONSEQUENCE

SUCCESS DISRUPTIVE –Tardy often –Does not have materials – pencil, paper, book, etc. –Usually does not have/do homework –Actions often keep student and others from learning: –Noise –Actions –Attitude

SUCCESS OBSERVER –On time –Has materials – May have homework –Watches, Watches – Does not take part –Answers “I don’t know.”

SUCCESS Participant On Time Prepared – has material and homework Takes part in class activity/discussion

SUCCESS CONTRIBUTOR Goes beyond Participant by offering higher level observations, suggestions, questions, and answers.

SUCCESS LEADER Is prepared, participates, contributes, and is a role model. Advanced social skills. Generally has the respect of both students and faculty.
