HOW BACTERIA ARE USED TO PRODUCE ENZYMES FOR BIOLOGICAL WASHING POWDERS ANIL SENA BAYINDIR TUBANAZ BOZKURT TUĞÇE BİLDİK

2 BIOLOGICAL DETERGENTS
Most of the enzymes for “biological” washing powders come from bacteria adapted to live in hot springs . Washing powder enzymes must also be able to function at alkaline pH, due to the presence of phosphate ions in most detergents.

3 BIOLOGICAL DETERGENTS
What is the difference between biological washing powder and regular washing powder?

4 BIOLOGICAL DETERGENTS
The first patent for a protein-digesting enzyme was issued back in 1913, and this enzyme was extracted from animal pancreases.

5 BIOLOGICAL DETERGENTS
In the 1960s, a much more useful enzyme was obtained from a bacterium called Bacillus subtilis.

6 BIOLOGICAL DETERGENTS
It is known that many stains are difficult to remove with ordinary detergents such as blood, gravy…

7 BIOLOGICAL DETERGENTS
Proteases break down proteins, so are good for blood, egg, gravy, and other protein stains. Amylases bre ak down starches, and lipases break down fats and grease.

8 BIOLOGICAL DETERGENTS
The most important enzymes used in biological washing powders is protease.
