It is affiliated to FICCI and ASSOCHAM at the National Level BCIC assists members by protecting and promoting their business interests within the Country and Abroad including Technology Transfer, Technology Upgradation and R & D. Members spread across a wide range of manufacturing and service sectors. Represents 95 % of the Capital Investment and 90 % of the Labour employed in the Corporate Sector of the State BCIC A brief Introduction

11 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE HOW BCIC HAS GONE – DEVELOPING POLICIES – PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP The BCIC signed an MoU with the Government of Karnataka on 6th January, 2005. One of the major components of the MoU was co-operation in the upgradation of Industrial Training Institutes into Centres of Excellence on a Public-Private Partnership basis.

14 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE HOW BCIC HAS GONE – ON DEVELOPING STRUCTURE AND FRAMEWORK FOR SKILLS – Public Private Partnership Industry participation in the third phase of the Training in the specialized module Trade Advisory Committee (TAC) has been formed for the different Sectors The main objective of Trade Advisory Committee is to design the curriculum and equipment specification for the specialized module Methodology evolved for Industry and Institute involvement in the third phase

15 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE HOW BCIC HAS GONE – ON DEVELOPING STRUCTURE AND FRAMEWORK FOR SKILLS – Public Private Partnership…Contd Identified the advanced and specialized module at the end of the advanced module The graduates could choose any one of the module from the advanced module and the graduates would take up the same module to the specialized module for a duration of 3 months, which would be specialization area or core competency of the graduate and expose him/her in the other two modules for period of one and half months each. The matrix had been prepared accordingly so that all the graduate under go the specialization module in their core area

19 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE HOW BCIC HAS GONE – ON DEVELOPING STRUCTURE AND FRAMEWORK FOR SKILLS – Public Private Partnership …Contd BCIC has formed a committee involving the relevant industry for the specialized modules BCIC has identified about 12 partner industry who will give Practical Training to the students in the third phase Guest Faculty panel will be maintained by BCIC to impart special training to the students in the third phase

20 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE HOW BCIC HAS GONE – ON DEVELOPING STRUCTURE AND FRAMEWORK FOR SKILLS – Public Private Partnership …Contd Methodology of Testing for the specialized module it was decided 50 % marks was to be given to the graduate who had taken his specialization module for a duration of 3 months and 25 % each for the other two modules of one and half months. Evaluation of the graduate was to be done both at the Training Institute level and the respective Industry.

21 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE HOW BCIC HAS GONE – ON TRAINING OF TRAINERS – PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP Seminar cum workshop was organized for 24 Principals of Government ITIs in Modern Vocational Training Management at NTTF, MICO Bosch, HMT & Apex which was jointly certified by BCIC, CII, Apex Hi-tech Institute and DET Karnataka

24 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE HOW BCIC HAS GONE – ON TRAINING OF TRAINERS – PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP…Contd Training and exposure to the Trainers/Instructors Aboard BCIC has been able to get the Exposure/Training organized for the Instructors at ITE in Singapore which enhance the trainers/instructors capability and bench mark them to World Class Standard in all the three Sectors namely Production & Manufacturing, Electrical and Automobile. Approval of Government of Karnataka is awaited

25 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE HOW BCIC HAS GONE – ON EMPLOYMENT – PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP Employment of the Trainees BCIC proposes to host a specific page on the MIS Software which has been given by BCIC to DGET which will contain the Database of all the COE Graduates who have completed the advance modules Trainees will be given the option to choose wherever vacancies are available BCIC will network to make available information on all COE trainees on the MIS Software.

27 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE BCIC ASSISTING APEX HI-TECH INSTITUTE-DGET IN PPP MODE BCIC will support the following activities in Apex Training of Master Trainers and Instructors Bench marking Indian training with international standards Curriculum development and Vocational Training System design Satellite Based Distances Learning and Internet Based e-Learning Internet Based Software for MIS for Vocational Skills Inventory

28 BANGALORE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY & COMMERCE Suggestion for Funding - PPP Vocational Training Cell created in Industry associations should be partially funded by Government Services of Industry associations can be framed through a TOR (Terms of Reference with Scope) This would Institutionalize the PPP Mode
