January 31 2004'Gbenga Sesan | www.gbengasesan.com | me@gbengasesan.com Gone in 3 Days ‘Gbenga Sesan me@gbengasesan.com | www.gbengasesan.com Final Year Class of 2004 Baptist Students’ Fellowship Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife

January 31 2004'Gbenga Sesan | www.gbengasesan.com | me@gbengasesan.com The Reality of a 3-day Limit “So teach us to number our days, that we might apply our hearts unto wisdom” – David (Psalm 90:12)  Regardless of colour, stature, position, age or sex, everyone has only 3 days to live – yesterday, today, tomorrow… and then you will be no more!  Your response to – and understanding of - the gift of time will determine your direction and relevance in life  Take a look to your right and left… the next few weeks will be full of graduation, good jobs, travels, marriages, et al. But the years ahead are largely unknown  The unknown days are a deliberate reflection of the complex interplay between the three days you have before you expire

January 31 2004'Gbenga Sesan | www.gbengasesan.com | me@gbengasesan.com Yesterday is GONE… “A man who does not know his history will forever remain a child…” - Cicero  A look into your past will always reveal things you must not forget to remember, and those that you must remember to forget  The things that you must not forget to remember are those experiences, values and words that make you smile when you remember them. They will strengthen you when trying times come  The things you must remember to forget are the hurting and painful scenes that play back in your memory from time to time. Time heals but vacuums will never stay... Replace them with a thoughtful analysis and praise!  Your past can never determine how far you’ll go in life!

January 31 2004'Gbenga Sesan | www.gbengasesan.com | me@gbengasesan.com Tomorrow is COMING… “What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG)” - Anonymous  No man has ever gone farther than his sight. Don’t let yesterday stand in front of you, and never allow today to hold you down. See the future, start walking towards it…  The future is an abstract canvass, feel free to paint your desires regardless of what people call impossible  Tomorrow is the day that will separate the men from the boys, only the prepared enjoy it  You have no reason to be scared of the future. You’ve never been there before and the one who’s leading you made time, and He stepped from eternity into time in order to prove to you that you can walk on water!

January 31 2004'Gbenga Sesan | www.gbengasesan.com | me@gbengasesan.com Today is HERE… “Even though I may walk slowly, I never walk backwards. Keep walking…” - Journey Walker  Today is the platform on which history makers announce their burial arrangements for yesterday’s failures, celebration of its successes, and a bold declaration of tomorrow’s assured impact  The most important word for today is PREPARE. Every step you take, every decision you make, and every habit you break all point towards your life in the future  The greatest secret about today is that CHANGE is attainable – in anything that you set your heart to  Your direction today will be determined by your most dominant thought. What’s on your mind? Are you discussing the “terrible system” or living above it?

January 31 2004'Gbenga Sesan | www.gbengasesan.com | me@gbengasesan.com Steps in the Right Direction… “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have…” – Thomas Jefferson  Man, know thyself! Don’t allow the rat race get to you. Discover your uniqueness, there’s no second you  Pursue a win-win situation in all things. Even if it looks like failure, find the diamond in that mud!  What is that in your hand? Your skills, talents and attitude will bridge the projection/reality gap  In what direction are you going in life? You must settle the issue of purpose before you step into tomorrow  Break free from the “certificate” mould, engage the entrepreneurial side of you – never work for a company that does not move in your life’s predefined direction

January 31 2004'Gbenga Sesan | www.gbengasesan.com | me@gbengasesan.com Keep Walking… “The whole world will stand aside for a man who knows where he’s going”  The best person to develop you is you. If you fail in the day of adversity, you can’t blame your lecturer, department, Great Ife, fellowship, friends, family, graduating class or anything else. Your strength is small!  Plan, review… plan again if you falter. Be consistent and experience the miracle of a child’s first walk  If your goals in life only exist in your head, and they only come up during discussions, you are only day-dreaming – depending on what time of the day it is. Pick a pen, step out of the system and write your epitaph before you die  Build on your moral strength, integrity pays off

January 31 2004'Gbenga Sesan | www.gbengasesan.com | me@gbengasesan.com We came, I saw, she conquered! “Think not only of what your nation can do for you, but what you can do for her” – Abraham Lincoln  The need for personal development cannot be over emphasized. It provides a platform for nation building and global participation  I believe a New Nigeria is emerging, one that is built on the foundations of the labours of our past heroes, hewn out of the debris of the present waste and engineered by the strength of tomorrow’s leaders: the Youth. These young people will work towards Personal Development and Nation Building, while recognizing their place as Global Citizens  Those who seek to make impact within their community always end up improving themselves
