2 What is expected? Arrive on time Be prepared (organization) Participate in Homeroom / School Activities (Assemblies, Fire Drills, Class Parties, etc.) Manage behavior Follow instructions, when applicable Respect school, classroom, teachers, classmates Have fun *Note: Please check your child’s “Take-home Folder” for school and classroom notices. They will receive them in Homeroom, and bring them home in their folders.

4 Homework Policy 1st offense- Warning 2nd offense- Lunch Detention (to make up missed work) - 1 point deducted from their final marking period grade 3rd offense- Lunch Detention (to make up missed work) - 1 point deducted from their final marking period grade - Email parent 4th offense- After school Detention (to make up missed work) with the Subject Area Teacher - 1 point deducted from their final marking period grade - Parent Conference 5th offense- After school Detention (to make up missed work) with Mr. Herbert - 1 point deducted from their final marking period grade - Check in with Mr. Herbert DAILY to sign off on “homework sheet.” Student has to have 5 successful, consecutive days of completed homework assignments. If not, sign-off procedure continues. 6th offenseProcedure for 5th offense resumes. *Note: Homework is posted on the HP School website, by teacher. If your child says they have NO homework, please check!

5 Grades Grading Standards The Harrington Park School has adopted the following standard for letter grades in grade 5 through grade 8: A+98 or higher A92-97 A-90-91 B+88-89 B82-87 B-80-81 C+78-79 C72-77 C-70-71 D65-69 IIncomplete F0-64 NANot Applicable

6 Birthday Celebrations 5 th grade is the last time they get to celebrate their birthdays with a special treat (they do NOT celebrate in middle school) Takes place in Homeroom, during 7 th or 8 th period O’Toole’s Homeroom: Mondays only For summer birthdays, we can celebrate on their “half-birthday,” or during May / June Please send plates, napkins and pre-cut, if at all possible. If not, please send in a knife, as we don’t have those in the classroom.

7 Class Trips 2 Class Trips are in the process of being planned for this year. Notices will come home once they are approved and arrangements are finalized. 5 th Grade Class T-Shirts are being ordered. Notices should have come home with this information. These are helpful when on a class trip. (ex. Liberty Science Center) Students also wear them for Field Day, Blue & White Day, HP Spirit Day, etc.
