Initially saw success, but in recent years has not seen much active promotion

7. Who was Charlie Walker?
A Scout who passed away while awaiting a lung transplant
Was able to donate several of his organs so other people could lead healthy lives

decided it would be a fitting tribute to name an organ donor awareness program after him.

9. The Charlie Walker Organ Donor Awareness Program
Builds on the BSA’s existing Program
But is separate from it

10. The Award
Round, 4” patch
Can be earned by anyone who is registered anywhere, in any branch, of the Boy Scouts of America

11. The Award Individually numbered
Free to the participant, with administrative costs covered by the program
One additional patch may be purchased by completing requirements 1 and 3 twice.

12. Requirements to earn the Award
1. Make an approved presentation to a group about the importance of organ donation.
For project approval it to:

2. Officially register as an organ donor. In Alabama, this is done through the Alabama Legacy Organ and Tissue Donor Registry:
by mail
Or when you apply for a Driver’s License or Learner’s Permit.

14. Special instructions allowed for Scouts under 15 years of age
With parental/guardian approval, you may instead include a statement that you intend to sign up as an organ donor when you apply for your Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License.
Submit a statement signed by your parent or guardian showing you have had a family discussion about your desire to be an organ donor.

3. Lead someone else to register officially as an organ donor. In Alabama, this is done through the Alabama Legacy Organ and Tissue Donor Registry:
