4 Release the Regulations on Reporting Activities in China by Foreign Journalists During the Beijing Olympic Games and the Preparatory Period Foreign journalists can cover the Games as well as every aspect of the Chinese society, as long as they get the interviewees’ consent.

5 Release the Service Guide for Foreign Media Coverage of the Beijing Olympic Games and the Preparatory Period Visa application Custom procedures Travel and interview freely Chinese staff employment House renting service Radio Frequency Temporary Driving License Taxation Insurance Bank account ……

6 One-stop Service Center set up to simplify administrative procedures for foreign media From July 2007 to mid May 2008, the One-stop Service Center has received nearly 3500 inquiries and applications, and dealt with 875 batches of visa and interview applications, involving a total number of 1688 journalists.

7 Release open and transparent information to the media In 2007, the Beijing Olympic Media Center held 100 press conferences. From January to April 2008, it held 24 press conferences.

8 Organize group interviews and media tours In 2007, we organized 60 group interviews and media tours for foreign journalists. In 2007, the Beijing Olympic Media Center dealt with 740 interview applications and received 580 groups of 3806 visiting foreign journalists.

9 Provide high-level media services during the Games Command Center: Beijing Olympic Media and Communication Coordination Group Main Press Center ( MPC ): Located in the Olympic Green, the three- storey MPC owns a total area of 60,000 sq m. It is the largest media center in the Olympic history. 2008 Beijing International Media Center ( BIMC ): China and Beijing Municipal Government established BIMC to serve non-accredited media from every corner of the world. BIMC owns an area of 58000 sq m. Now BIMC starts to accept registration applications. Venue Media Centers: Each competition venue has a media center, including press working room, press conference hall, mixed zone, media tribunes and rest area. During the Games, the venue media centers will run three hours before and after the events.

10 Three Tiers of Messaging Central Government Messaging: messages will be announced at press conferences at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Council Information Office (SCIO) or the Main Press Center. City Operations and incidents Messaging: messages will be announced at press conferences at the Beijing International Media Center (BIMC). Games Operation/BOCOG Messaging: messages will be announced at press conferences at the Main Press Center or venue media centers.
