2 DRESS CODEBATHROOM See students’ assignment notebook for full description. Dress code will be checked as students walk in the building and during homeroom to ensure they are in compliance. Dress Code Description Students need to shower and wear deodorant daily. Students are ask to keep deodorant in their locker, no sprays allowed! Not allowed to go during first period or after lunch. (Students can go before school or during lunch) All other times students must have teacher’s permission and turn in a pass. Students will receive passes for each half of a quarter. It is their responsibility to keep them. Not allowed to ask during teacher directed time.

3 Website where homework assignments are posted every night. In addition, any documents that were used in class may also be uploaded to Edmodo and downloaded at home. Students must understand that Edmodo is not an alternative option to writing down their homework in their assignment notebooks. They must still use their assignment notebooks as their primary source of documenting their homework. Back-up solution in case students accidentally forgot to write down their homework. How do I get to Edmodo? To create a Parent account on Edmodo, parents will need the parent code. Parents can access their parent codes through their child’s Edmodo account or by contacting their child’s teacher.

4 Reward system given for good behavior and academics. Bucks are given in $1 dollar increments. Some of the rewards you can purchase are Homework passes Out of dress code Free time Novelty items First Reward date is Oct. 10 th !

7 Bathroom Passes -Students are required to use a pass in order to use the bathroom during class -The students have been provided with all bathroom passes needed from the start of the school year until progress reports. (Twice a quarter) -Students are allowed to go to the bathroom at lunch/recess and during specials without a pass. -Bathroom passes are only used in classes 212, 221, and 222 -This is to reduce the amount of times students go to the bathroom and lose class instruction

8 Students will begin working on their history fair projects as early as December 2014 Beginning of of February 2015: Projects will be due February 20th: In-school History Fair will be held, where all of classroom winners will display their projects. April 25, 2015: Chicago History Fair will be held at DePaul History Fair projects are a large portion of the Social Studies grade (20%), so it is very important for all students to follow directions and meet each guideline. Rubric and Guidelines will be given well ahead of time!

9 In the Chicagoland area: No more than four detentions. No suspensions. This will be measured from the start of school until the first field trip. Then, the system begins again from that field trip until the next one the class goes on. Outside the Chicagoland area: No more than 10 detentions. 3 days of suspension. This can be three different suspensions or one suspension resulting in multiple days. This will be measured from the start of the school year until the students go on the trip. 7 th Grade: Springfield, IL. This is planned for May 28, 2015.

10 NO FOOD!!! If you would like to bring something to share with your class it must not be edible (Examples: Pencils, Pens, Small notebooks, Glow sticks,etc.)

12 Introducing… Our New Garvy Website! Garvy Website Please remember to visit our Garvy website and create an account! This will be used for all important email blasts from Garvy School! Homework: -Mrs. McCain’s homework will be posted directly on the Garvy website. -Ms. Morales and Mrs. Spyratos will post homework on Edmodo, there will be a link posted on the Garvy website Parent Portal / Email: -Teachers will update grades at least once a week -Teachers will check “notes” in Parent Portal once a month (so please email instead for faster responses) -Email will be checked once every 24 hours

13 Ms. Kukulka Student Teacher Ms. Morales’ seventh grade Loyola University Earning Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education Responsibilities: engaging students in lessons, assigning work occasionally, and eventually managing classes. Schedule: September 2-November 14 I will be assisting and teaching Monday,Tuesday, and Wednesday January 12-April 24 I will be assisting all day and everyday, teaching certain subjects I am looking forward to a great school year, and I know you are too.
