2 Welcome! Agenda Review Mutual Expectations Parking Lot Freeze Gesture
Welcome back. We are excited to begin our new school year and grateful that we were able to maintain all of our staff. Before we review today’s agenda, lets set the tone for being attentive learners and review meeting expectations. NO SLEEPING, BRING YOUR OWN SNACKS, INFORM FIELD INSTRUCTOR OF TARDINESS We can all be in agreement that we need to turn off our cell phones. If you have an urgent call, please step outside and take your call. I will presume positive intentions, that if you are talking to your neighbor you are commenting on the context. (per adaptive schools) Any other agreements you would like to add? We want to have a meeting that is respectful and considerate of one another. Explain and prepare for Parking lot items, as questions come up that you will not be able to answer or need more information , we will hold it in the parking lot, which is also called Caping…this means that every question you might have is important, but today, we are covering these specific topics, and we will chart them to ensure they are addressed at the end of the day or in future comunications/meetings. Explain Freeze Gesture- hand signal to denote bringing attention back to speaker, initially hand lower may raise as needed There are a lot of changes that have taken place and changes within the district and our division that you will learn about today. Goal of today is to engage in Professional Learning- we have a lot of interesting and important information today to share.

3 Grounding Exercise FIRST JOB - Group together in fours, share what was your first job and how it might relate to what you do today or similarities that you may find in your role as a social worker. 6 EDUCATIONAL SERVICE CENTERS
Instructional Center Operations Center Parent and Community Engagement Center Instruction: The new structure allows for a more strategic focus on instruction and will ensure our students graduate prepared for college and career ready. Operations : Coordinators to assist in supporting effective school operations. The coordinator is responsible for every level in the complex. Operations will be first responders in the event of a crisis as well. Parent and Community Engagement: believe that children learn best when schools collaborate with parents as equal partners in their children’s education. Parents can partner with schools by promoting a culture of literacy and high expectations at home and at school, the goals revolve around assisting schools with developing welcoming environments for parents while offering parents a variety of opportunities to partner with the school community to improve student achievement

8 LAUSD CORE BELIEFS Start with students Families are our partners
Success in the classroom Diversity is our strength Effective teaching, leadership and accountability are the keys to our success Centered around the District's Goals and the Performance Meter are LAUSD's Core Beliefs These Core Beliefs are the foundation of the District's overall mission that all L.A. youth are achieving.

9 LAUSD Performance Meter
On his first day as Superintendent, Dr. Deasy shared with the Board of Education and the rest of the LAUSD family the LAUSD Performance Meter. The Performance Meter is a scorecard to measure our performance as a District. These indicators center on the district’s goals. Discuss the District’s goals: 100% Attendance (For students and staff. Data shows student attendance increases when staff attendance is also high.); PBS; Suspension Rates; DFP. All District programs are being held accountable for meeting these goals. SMH supports these initiatives by addressing: school attendance, barriers to student learning, engaging parents, collaborating with community partners, and promoting school safety. We are data driven and need to show productivity and our support for these goals. Everyone will be Welligent trained to document our client show rates, progress, types and number of services we provide. Everyone will be trained in EBPs. We will also continue to build in supports and guidance as we continue moving in this direction. We have DMH goals to meet that we committed to. That is how we were able to keep all of our staff. All of our work supports having students be “College Prepared and Career Ready.”
