17 Spend Analysis  Through its F & A and CPS services, NHS SBS has over 130 NHS organisations feeding its spend analysis tool.  The data from our Trusts provides the largest consolidated data pool of information within the NHS about who is buying what from whom and at what price.  Data cleanse, classification and normalisation service with reporting toolset in partnership with @UK.  Single view of PO spend across organisations, consolidated spend by item, by supplier and item level price benchmarking.  Savings opportunities identification and measurement.  The ability to drill through data to identify the department / cost centre and individuals indulging in non compliant procurement activity. © NHS Shared Business Services 2011

20  In 2008 the NHS Sustainable Development Unit (NHS SDU) calculated the carbon footprint of NHS expenditure at a national level – largest 1, 2 and 3 carbon footprint of any organisation in the world.  Working together NHS SBS, @UK and NHS SDU aim to build on this, extending the collection of expenditure data from the national level to all NHS organisations such as supplier, GPs, dentists and pharmacists. 25  Production of a report on the NHS England good and services carbon footprint.  Provision of a more detailed analysis of the breakdown of procurement for different types of NHS organisation.  All NHS organisations participating in the project will receive an enhanced summary of the carbon footprint of their current procurement activity free of charge.  They will be offered the option to upgrade to either, or both, a chargeable Spend Analysis and Carbon Analysis service.  Increase in NHS spend through the NHS SBS spend analysis tool enabling better comparisons of non-pay spend behaviour across the NHS.
