About Anthesis Business value for a better world. Anthesis is a global, yet specialist, consultancy which believes that commercial success and sustainability go hand in hand. We have unrivalled expertise in carbon footprinting with more than 300 clients – large and small – from our pro bono work with community-based low carbon groups to the London 2012 Games.

Our approach Development of a customised software tool for the Royal College of GPs In 2011, Anthesis was commissioned to develop a customised version of its Footprint Reporter™ software, to include piloting and testing with eight practices, as well as developing a supporting website and materials. Anthesis also conducted a survey and undertook high level evaluation of data within the software.

Overview The Royal College of General Practitioners has approximately 39,000 members in the UK and overseas, providing an essential frontline service to about a million patients per day. The RCGP worked with Anthesis to develop a tool and support materials to help GPs to measure, monitor and reduce their carbon emissions, bringing both environmental and financial benefits to their practices.

Footprint Reporter for GP’s Footprint Reporter was tailored to allow GP surgeries to capture their carbon footprint, without requiring complex data gathering processes. GP Footprint Reporter covers 6 categories: – Business travel – Commuting – Patient travel – Utilities – Renewables – Supply Chain These categories were based upon Defra’s Corporate Greenhouse Gas Reporting Guidelines and focus upon key areas of GHG emissions for a GP surgery, including both those within it’s direct control, and those that it can influence.

The tool Footprint Reporter provides: Simple ‘drag and drop’ graphical user interface Instant analysis and reporting Examinations of future scenarios Benchmarking against other surgeries

The tool cont. As well as providing the ability to easily analyse a surgery’s carbon footprint we provide all members with guidance document’s and calculator’s for: – Capturing staff commuting – Capturing patient travel – Future target setting – Resources on Health & Climate Change – Information on relevant Government & Advisory bodies
