7 Truancy Cases Filed and Heard for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 Observations: Decrease in cases filed and cases heard in 2009-10 as compared to 2008-09. 7

9 2010 Plan of Action I. Strict implementation of Start on Time for Safe Transitions, Tardy Reduction, and Increase Attendance in Middle and High Schools. (Attachment A) II. Attendance personnel will be trained periodically throughout the school year on the TEA Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (i.e., updates, reports, PEIMS coding, software changes, etc.) to ensure a deep understanding of implementation, duties and responsibilities. III. Implement District Wide Attendance Reporting/Accounting procedures to include delineation of responsibilities. Desktop audits will be conducted by Central Office Staff. 10 IV.Work with the Justices of the Peace, monitor Attendance Officers closely, and campus administration to increase the number of truancy cases filed and heard in court. V.Revisions of Board Policy & Administrative Regulation on Student Admissions: Revise Policies FD Local, FDA Local, FDA administrative regulation to include more specific criteria on Student Admissions (Attachment C) VI. Residency Verification: Increase number of residency checks for students on Host, Power of Attorney and Grandfather Affidavit to monitor compliance. VII.Implementation of District Wide Student Attendance Initiative (Attachment D) VIII.Detailed Influenza Season Initiative IX.Marketing campaign to promote Attendance: a) Monthly PSA’s b)Promote “Everyday Counts” and the LISD Truancy Hotline 235-2813 (Attachment E) X.Board Acknowledgement: Elementary campuses who attain district attendance goal of 98% and middle/high schools who attain 97% every six weeks will be recognized at the monthly Board Meeting under the Superintendent’s Recognition. 10
