56 Conclusion A total of 319 guided bombs used in 65 operations 215 functioned correctly, achieving a hit rate of 49.3 % 40 Allied warships and 39 merchant vessels sunk or put out of action for the loss of 48 aircraft Compared to regular bombing, this was a phenomenal success rate! Had these weapons been available earlier in the war… one shudders at what could have happened
