Contents Page Versions Paige Hetherington

Version 1 Here is my version 1 of my contents page. I like the plain layout of the page because I believe it looks simple and clean, it also matches my audiences preferences. I also like how the editor’s note is towards the top of the page and the first letter ‘R’ is capitalised which looks effective. This is also usual because a lot of magazine we see use this effect. I also used the close up image of my model and used the pen tool to remove the background. I used the colouring tool to colour the cover lines the same colour as the ‘L’ on the masthead. Creating a theme of burgundy and black. The burgundy colour also matches the colour of the model’s shoes which looks effective. I think though that the page is to simple and could include some more images and text.

Version 2 Here is my version 2 contents draft. I like this now it has more text and images as the page looks much more interesting. I added in extra images and wrote captions which means the reader has something more to read about and know more about what is going to be included inside. I also like how the borders are around two of the images because it makes the image stand out well. It also adds a kind of 3D effect which allows the image to look like it is standing out against the page. I still feel that some text needs to be added in some of the white space which is showing. But I overall like the look of this page and think that it looks professional and well done.

Version 3 Here is my version 3 of my contents page drafts. I have not changed much on this but added in some extra text by the model’s head. This stating information about the model and the audience can clearly see what is going to be included in the magazine. Everything else I have pretty much kept the same because I feel it all works well and the page is kept simple and clean and this is how my audience asked for it too be. I ensured that the writing above the model’s head also matches the same colour as the L again because I think that this colour scheme works well. I also added in some rhetorical questions above the smaller images because it makes the reader want to read on and feel eager to find out more.

Version 4 Here is my version 4 of my contents page versions. I have kept everything else on the page because I like the rest and I did not think that anything needed changing because everything I have included has been in preference for my target audience. I think that it also is suitable for my target audience of 15 years and above. I have added in some lines underneath each caption on the cover lines because I think that this looks effective and separates the headings from each other. This also adds to the simple look. I thought that through experimenting with these lines using the pencil tool that they looked effective and professional so decided to keep them.

Version 5 Here is my Version 5 of my contents page versions. I have kept everything else pretty much the same but decided to add in a ‘new album release’ towards the right hand side of the page. I feel that I could possible add something else or try to make the page look more professional. I am going to experiment with some other Photoshop tools and see if there is anything I can do to achieve this.

Version 6 Here is version 6 of my contents page versions. I have added in a background colour around the image of a pink colour. I thought that the pink went well in contrast with the darker pink on the page. I added ‘this issue’ above the contents so the audience can see that these are what are going to be included in the magazine and clearly recognise so next to the words in this issue. I have kept a white box around the image to make it stand out against everything else which is included on the page.

Version 7 Here is my version 7 and I have added in some text underneath the words ‘Tiana Shanley’. I have also added in the other name of one of my model’s above the writing ‘album release’ I think this works well and the reader can recognise who the new album release is by. Everything else I have pretty much kept the same but I have decided to take away the white box which surrounded the main image right of the page and overall I think this looks much better.

Version 8 This is my version 8. I decided to remove the background colour because I didn’t feel that it looked as professional as it could. I have decided to change the style of the contents and instead placed them in rows aline with each other which is usual in the majority of pop magazines I have researched. I have also added in a page number at the bottom of the page so the reader can clearly see what page they are on. I also changed the style of writing where it says ‘inside this issue. I have removed also the text which was accompanied underneath the name ‘Tiana Shanley’.

Version 9 Here is my version 9 of my contents page versions. I have added in an extra image underneath the contents and also included a page number so the reader can see what page the image is advertising. I have also added in a piece of hyphened text which the reader can see is what is going to have come from the page that the picture is from. Everything else I have pretty much kept the same.

Version 10 Here is my version 10 of my contents page versions. Here I have added in also another image next to the image that I added before hand. This image is also labelled with a page number so the audience again can see what page it features. Everything else I have kept the same because I feel that the style and the contents of the page look professional and go well together. I have changed the style of font on the numbers which accompany the contents.

Version 11 Here is my version 11 of my own contents page versions. I have added in a variety of things to somewhat make the page look finished and to a high and professional standard. I have designed my own logo towards the top of the page which includes we love pop in a speech mark which I think looks good and effective as well as working well with the rest of the page. I have added in text above another of my model’s pictures. I also experimented with adding an image of a compact makeup mirror next to the image so the reader can see that the image featured is about beauty secrets and is an extra add on in the pop magazine.

Version 12 Here is my version 12 of my contents page versions. I have added in some extra text underneath the text saying ‘Tiana Shanley’ and also some more hyphenated text which is obvious is something that reader has spoken about in the magazine and featured on the specific page number. I have also added in the website name of my magazine at the bottom left hand side of the page also advertising the website version of the magazine.

Version 13 Here I have kept everything on the page the same bar changing the background colour adding in a pale grey which altogether gives the rest of the colours on the page an instant colour boost. I overall like how this contents page has turned out and feel it looks professional and complete.

Version 14 Here I have changed the masthead because I feel that this masthead goes well with the genre of the magazine. I have also removed the picture and I am going to experiment with different pictures to see if I can achieve a different more professional finish. I have also taken away the style that the contents was and decided to remove it and totally start over again. I have kept the make up which is in the left hand bottom corner. I have also added in a bit of colour strip towards the bottom of the page which I think looks effective but I am not to sure about.

Version 15 Here I have removed the coloured background and kept it plain white as I researched some other magazine contents page and the majority where simple white and not any other specific colour. I have also added in the contents but now in a different style format which I think looks much better and more effective. I have used a different picture of one of my models as the main image and I think this looks well but also am not to sure on whether it goes with the genre. I have added in the front cover to the page towards the right hand corner which I think makes the page look much more professional.

Version 16 Here I have kept everything pretty much the same but have changed the main image to the same image from the beginning which I think looks effective. I have also boxed around the contents text which I think gives the page more of a contents look. I have made the word features in bold to stand out from the rest of the contents which I think works well because it means the audience can read and know that the features are included. I have also changed the signature of mine underneath the editors note.

Version 17 Here I have kept everything included on the page the same but have added in a background colour. I am not to sure whether to keep this colour as I think it needs blending. Overall though I feel that the rest of the page all works well and I have finally near come to a finish.

Version 18 Here is my final version of my contents page. I have blending the background using the blending tools on Photoshop. I think that this background works well because certain parts of the image are lighter than other parts and this looks effective and professional. I have kept everything else the same and I think that this all looks well and I have finally achieved a finish.
