6. Learning – Believing – Achieving What are employers looking for? When employers advertise a vacancy they ask for a range of skills and qualifications. Most employers ask for a similar group of skills – often called: employability skills Employers want the right person for their job Employability skills are the skills and personal qualities that employers believe an employee needs, in order to do the job well.

Learning – Believing – Achieving Important advice for students in Year 8 All students should aim to complete the Level 2 threshold and move on to Level 3 whilst they are a student at Newport High School. To complete the Level 2 threshold which is equivalent to 5 GCSE passes at A*-C grades or 5 vocational passes, you need to ask your TfL, the KS3 levels you are predicted to achieve at the end of this year: If this is Level 6+ in English, Maths and Science then: – Select any subjects of your choice from pathways A or B&C If this is Level 5+ in English, Maths and Science then: – Look carefully at the information about each of the options available in Pathway A and Pathways B&C. Some GCSE subjects may not be available to you until next year If this is Level 4+ in English, Maths and Science then: – A choice from Pathway A will be most likely to ensure you achieve the Level 2 threshold by the end of Year 11
