3 The Programme Read the booklet and discuss the options. Any questions, contact the school. Fill in the option form and return to Mrs Triptree, via form tutors no later than Monday 22 nd February Read the booklet and discuss the options. Any questions contact the school. 5 How to make good choices DO DONT TAKE A SUBJECT BECAUSE Think about what you like doing Think about what you want to do in the future Make sure you have a good mix of subjects You like the teacher Your friend is taking it Youve heard its easy

6 What we pride ourselves on at The Streetly School 4 subjects taken offering a real choice Making it personal – discussion with SLT regarding the best options based on predicted grades and PC data Offering courses at different levels, to suit the needs of students Regular Progress checks and discussion with staff about progress made

7 ENGLISH BACCALAUREATE This is an extra qualification that students will receive should they get a C grade and above in Maths, English, Science, a Humanities subject ( currently Geography or History) and a Foreign Language (French or Spanish) There is no extra exam to take- it is given automatically

8 OPTIONS Art, ASC, French, PE, Business Studies Drama, Geography, Music, Food & Nutrition, Spanish, DT Graphics, ICT Nationals, Travel and Tourism, Science Triple Award, Health and Social Care, DT Product Design, History, Dance, CORE English Maths RE Science

9 GCSEs GCSEs are offered by all schools in a range of subjects GCSEs mainly involve theoretical study, but with some investigative work. In some subjects they involve elements of practical work GCSEs are usually assessed through a mixture of coursework and examinations GCSEs are awarded from A* through to G

10 BTECs / OCR Nationals BTECs and OCR Nationals have equivalence to 2 GCSEs Courses support vocational learning and understanding of the world of work, with an emphasis upon skills Pupils are assessed upon their completion of portfolios [or coursework] which evidence their understanding Pupils can benefit from continual assessment instead of testing at the end of the course Awarded at Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*
