兵馬俑 - Terracotta warrior in traditional Chinese 兵马俑 - Terracotta warrior in simplified Chinese They were buried along with Qin Shi Huang after his death. The purpose was to help him rule another kingdom in the afterlife. They consist of 6,000 life-size soldiers, horses, and chariots lined up facing east and ready to fight for their emperor.
They were made in local clay 2,000 years ago; each warrior was carved individually and no face was the same. Many of them belonged to minority groups, which signified that Qin Shi Huang unified China.
