17 REAR ENGINE ASSEMBLY HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR:  RESERVOIR THAT SUPPLIES HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WITH 10W OIL.  TANK CAPACITY OF 78 GAL.  CHECK OIL LEVEL WITH SIGHT GAUGE ON SIDE OF RESERVOIR.  LOCATED ON RIGHT SIDE OF TRACTOR.

19  THIS SLIDE SHOWS THE PANEL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CATWALK COVERING THE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR. A VALVE ON TOP OF THE RESERVOIR GIVES PROTECTION FROM EXCESSIVE PRESSURE ABOVE 15 PSI.

20 REAR ENGINE FRAME REAR AXLE:  REAR AXLE OSCILLATES PLUS OR MINUS 13 DEGREES.  REAR WHEEL VERTICAL MOVEMENT IS LIMITED BY STOPS TO ELEVEN INCHES ABOVE AND BELOW THE HORIZONTAL.

21 REAR ENGINE FRAME REAR BUMPER:  24 VOLT SYSTEM.  MACHINE CAPABLE OF STARTING AT TEMPS AS LOW AS –25 DEGREES.  STORAGE AREA LOCATED BELOW EACH BATTERY BOX FOR TOOLS.  STEPS AND GRAB IRONS ON BOTH SIDES OF MACHINE FOR ACCESS TO TOP OF BUMPER.  TOP OF BUMPER AND BATTERY BOXES ARE USED AS A PLATFORM FOR ENGINE MAINTENANCE.

22 REAR BUMPER  FOUR 12V BATTERIES ON EACH SIDE OF VEHICLE IN FRONT OF COUNTERWEIGHTS.

24 REAR ENGINE FRAME REAR BUMPER:  PINTLE HOOK  USED FOR TOWING OTHER VEHICLES.  TOWING LUGS ARE USED WHEN THE RTCH ITSELF NEEDS TO BE TOWED.

26 REAR ENGINE FRAME OPERATOR STATION:  CAB, CONTROLS, PLATFORM, AND SEAT ARE A SEPARATE UNIT.  CAN BE ASSEMBLED AND TESTED AS A UNIT.  CATWALK AROUND THE CAB EXTENDS FROM LEFT SIDE AROUND TO THE RIGHT SIDE.  CATWALK EQUIPPED WITH HAND RAILS FOR OPERATOR SAFETY.  DIRECTLY BEHIND THE CAB IS THE PRIMARY SERVICE AREA.  TWO FLOOR PANELS ALLOW ACCESS TO THE TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK AND FILLER TUBE.

32 OPERATORS CAB  ARTICULATED STEERING  ADJUSTABLE STEERING COLUMN  WHEN IN THE PARK POSITION, TRANSMISSION SELECTOR LEVER IS LOCKED IN NEUTRTAL.  COLUMN RELEASE AND PARK BRAKE KNOBS MUST BE PULLED OUT TO OPERATE.  AN ANTI-PIVOT LINK IS PROVIDED FOR STABILIZATION DURING SHIPING. PIN MUST BE REMOVED PRIOR TO TOWING.

41 CONTAINERIZATION  METHOD BY WHICH A QUANTITY OF CARGO IS STOWED INTO STANDARD SIZED METAL CONTAINERS PRIOR TO BEING SHIPPED TO THE INTENDED DESTINATION.  CONTAINERS HAVE INTERNALLY CONSTRUCTED LIFTING POINTS CALLED “CORNER CASTINGS”.  CONTAINERIZATION IS THE METHOD BY WHICH THE SHIPPING INDUSTRY IS BEING STANDARDIZED.  STANDARDIZATION OF DEMENSIONS AND WEIGHT CAPACITIES HAS SPREAD ACROSS THE WORLD.

44 CONTAINERIZATION  EVERY MAJOR PORT IN U.S. HAS HIGH SPEED CONTAINER EQUIPMENT.  THIS FACT FURTHER ENHANCES THE IDEA OF USING CONTAINERS FOR HANDLING MILITARY CARGO.  COMMERCIAL SHIPPING INDUSTRY WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE TO ASSIST IN THE LOAD OUT OF MILITARY CARGO DURING EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.

45 CONTAINERIZATION  DELIVERY OF SUPPLIES BY CONTAINER VS BREAK- BULK OFFERS MANY ADVANTAGES.  1) SUPPLIES FOR BEACH ASSAULT ARE LOADED AND SEALED INTO A CONTAINER IN SHIPPING AREA OF A LOGISTICS BASE.  2) SUPPLIES WILL REMAIN INTACT IN CONTAINER UNTIL CONTAINER LANDS ON THE BEACH.  3) DAMAGE AND PILFERAGE ARE VIRTUALLY ELIMINATED.  4) SUPPLY FOUL UPS ARE REDUCED.  5) 45,000 LBS. OF SUPPLIES CAN BE DELIVERED IN A SINGLE MOVEMENT. WEIGHT OF CONTAINER MUST BE CONSIDERED.

46 EMPLOYMENT  DESIGNED FOR BEACH TYPE OPERATIONS.  CONTAINERS ABOARD MPS SHIPS ARE UNLOADED BY SHIP BOARD CRANES ON TO VARIOUS TYPES OF LANDING CRAFT TO BE TRANSPORTED TO SHORE.  NORMALLY USED TO UNLOAD BARGE TYPE VESSELS  THE RTCH IS DRIVEN ONTO THE BEACHED BARGE FERRY, THE CONTAINER IS LOADED UTILIZING THE TOP HANDLER AND BACKED TO SHORE.  THE CONTAINER CAN BE LOADED ON FLATBED TRAILERS  IT CAN BE USED IN A STAGING OR MARSHALING AREA  THEY CAN BE STACKED TWO HIGH TO SAVE SPACE
