2 VERBS MUST MATCH THE SUBJECT OF THE SENTENCE – NOT THE CLOSEST NOUN Number 1 – 10 in square 3 Copy the sentences. Put a line through any prep phrases. Underline the subject once and choose the best verb to go with it by underlining it twice. It might help to remember: A single subject needs a plural verb A plural subject needs a single verb
