2. Thermocouple installation pipe preparation. Caution: The surface area on the steam pipe must be between 60 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit when installing this product.

3. Thermocouple installation pipe preparation. Select a location just upstream of the steam trap. (High pressure side). Using an Emery cloth type material, clean of an area of about 4 square inches. Wipe off any debris with a clean cloth type material.

4. Thermocouple # 896-010 Adhesive back J-type. Peel back / remove the paper protecting the adhesive tape on the thermocouple. Note it is during this procedure that damage may result, use care to prevent damaging the thin wire loop junction.

5. Thermocouple # 896-010 Adhesive back J-type. Apply the thermocouple to the pipe, lengthwise. Hold in place for 20 seconds.

6. Strain relief folding of the thermocouple wire. Make about (6) 180 degree bends or folds in the wire to prevent junction damage in the event of wire stress due to pulling. Place a piece of tape to hold the wire until the procedure is finished.

7. Strain relief folding of the thermocouple wire. Wrap cloth backed duct tape around the strain relief.

8. Protecting the thermocouple. Wrap cloth backed duct tape around the thermocouple and strain relief area with a minimum of 5 wraps.
