4 Science Should Be a Verb! We believe that science is best learned when “hands-on” experiences are woven into the curriculum so that our students have a concrete example of how science works and impacts our everyday lives Lab activities Field Trips Experiential Week

5 O What are your Essential Questions? How do scientists “prove” anything? How do scientists attempt to explain the natural world? How do we design sound, meaningful experiments? How and why do scientists collect data? How do scientists draw conclusions based on data gathered by experimentation? O What are the Enduring Understandings? Scientific knowledge grows and evolves over time. New ideas replace old ones as new evidence is gathered. Scientists use specific methods and procedures to gather data. Carefully planned and controlled experiments reveal patterns. A systematic view is often used to explain how parts relate to the whole. O What is your Scope and Sequence? Each class is broken down into units that are then divided into lessons based on a logical, overt progression from simple to more complex with frequent checks for understanding along the way.
