UNDP perceived as an important actor on Roma-related issues One “project offer” received from a donor Other organizations working on Roma issues consulting UNDP

8 Europe and CISNHDR workshop, Bratislava, May 2003 Follow-up The report translated into local languages (and possibly in Roma) Already published and launched in Hungary in March and Slovakia in April Launch in Bulgaria scheduled for 22 nd May In all cases - active participation of the National Governments More projects (hopefully)

9 Europe and CISNHDR workshop, Bratislava, May 2003 Measuring the impact (going beyond press coverage) Possible criteria: Projects generated by the report Other partnerships (donor coordination) Extent to which some practical recommendations in the report will be implemented Evolution of major donors’ approach to Roma issues towards sustainable development concept

10 Europe and CISNHDR workshop, Bratislava, May 2003 Conclusions Communication starts long before the completion of the report and lasts long after the launch Clear vision what do we want to achieve is necessary Professional but in-house communication team is a must Proper timing is important but not always under our control Links to future projects is a key
