3 What would you like to get from today's session?

4 Why are you here? Take a few moments and reflect on why you think you are the Chair or Secretary of your club. What are your motivations for your role? (intrinsic/extrinsic)

5 What makes a good Chair? Leadership Strategic thinker (longer-term focus) Great communicator (two-way process) Confidence Patient Passionate Understanding of other committee roles Delegation Conflict management (not taking sides)

6 What makes a good Secretary? Organised Good Communicator (especially written) Confidentiality Proactive Effective delegation Remaining Impartial Planning ahead

7 What are my responsibilities as Chair? Chair committee meetings Lead on the development of the club (TSH & Rec) Ensure activities are in line with Union policy Main representative of the club (internal and external) Ensure that all constitutional committee roles are filled Appointing trip/activity leaders (in conjunction with Union staff) Financial decision making (in consultation with committee) Other, club specific, duties as required

8 What are my responsibilities as Secretary? Schedule club committee meetings and notify members Take minutes/action points at meetings and email to the group Ensure club is affiliated to the appropriate National Governing Body (BUCS) To produce/update new member information pack Union website/App info Lead on registration and membership Other, club specific, duties as required

9 How am I going to do it? (and what support is available?) The Sport Union team are here to support and guide you, where necessary, so use us! TSH Club Development Cycle Recreation Club Development (coming soon!)
