7 Blood-borne Pathogens Blood-borne pathogens are infectious microorganisms in human blood that can cause disease in humans. These pathogens include, but are not limited to, hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). 8 Blood-Borne BMPs Wear disposable gloves and sturdy shoes Do NOT pick up bundles of debris Don’t put your hands inside anything Carefully place syringes in a Sharps Container If you do get a needle stick; DON’T PANIC!
