Kaiyo Academy Established by 80 companies ( Toyota, JRTokai, ChubuElectricPower etc. ) The school was opened in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture in April 2006.

Improvement of administration efficiency of school by ICT (Paperless ) Using a school register management system Display of flexible time schedules for each student Entry test results, reviews/grading for daily performance in a class and in the dormitory life for individual students Display of individual test results and report cards in the portal site for parents. Automatic creation of Summary of instruction / health records with digital stamp.
ICT Use by Teachers English Class Using Tablet PC by both a teacher and students, the teacher explaines and writes words/sentence in the PC displayed on the projector. Students also note them on their PC with pen. Textbook audio material are played by the Tablet PC. Scanned English reading material is displayed by the projector. (Handouts of the same contents printed in color are distributed to students.)
ICT Use by TeachersSocial Studies Class ICT Use by Teachers Social Studies Class Scanned Diagrams, drawings and pictures of reference books are saved in a common folder. Each teacher takes the data into software such as PowerPoint and display them by the projector to explain the material in class. Prepared materials (paper) are projected with projection cameras in class. Picture materials with DVDs and video players are played for use in class.
ICT Use by Teachers Science Class PPTslides corresponding to the class are displayed by the projector from the Tablet PC and key points and important matters are written in it by pen. The experimental results and data of each group written in the TabletPC, are instantly shared. By using the projection camera, experimental results (e.g. extraction of crystal etc.) and answers of tests are displayed. Scanned Diagrams and pictures from science reference books are into PC for projection and explained in a way which is easy to understand. (To review key points, slide shows are utilized.)
ICT Use in Study by Students ・ Currently, students use ICT to study in class and on their own at the dormitory. Listening practice with voice files of Basic English and Testing English Proficiency on the server. Internet use in geography class. Thinking by using mathematic software in math class. Study with the Internet and Encarta encyclopedia. Creation of ppt slides for review and sample questions before the test.
PC Use by Students during Class Use of individual PCs during class is not very often. 1. It is preferable to use PCs more not only as a communication tool but also as a tool for study. 2. Entry by keyboard is inconvenient. It does not allow for drawing. 3. Training by writing in notebooks what was written on the whiteboard is very important for 1st and 2nd year junior high school students. As a solution for 1 ． 2 ． 3 tasks. Tablet PCs seen in a school visit to Singapore (Backpack.Net). We have used 3 Tablet PCs a trial since Sep.2006.

Future Research Task 1 ⇒ Increase the number of teachers who use Tablet PCs in class Purchase of 8 Tablet PCs for teachers Full use of ICT by teachers in class Since ICT has already been used in science, English, social studies and mathematics (in one unit only), its use in mathematics and Japanese class will be expected.
Future Research Task 2 Consider the use of individual notebook PCs for students in class. Verify whether the learning results are better for paper notebooks or for Tablet PC notebooks.
