Simple Past of Be The past form of be is completely irregular:
Affirmative Form: I was you were he was, she was, it was we were they were Ex: They were friends
I wasn't (contraction of ……..)
Simple Past of Be Negative form: I wasn't (contraction of ……..) you weren't he she it wasn't we weren't they weren't
Simple Past of Be Interrogative form: was I?
were you? Ex: Were you happy? was he/ she /it? Ex: Was the kitchen clean? Was he rich? were we? were you? were they? Ex: Were they happy to see you?
Short affirmative and negative answers:
Simple Past of Be Short affirmative and negative answers: Yes, I/he was Yes, you/we/they were No, I/he wasn't No, you/we/they weren't
