6 6 Cloud Services Challenge: Interoperability Users / Consumers: Individual, Home, Branch, Campus

7 7 Cloud Services Deployment Issues Technology Barriers Limits to VLANs and WAN scalability Lack of Visibility Using Tunnels & Overlays Network Bottlenecks Network set-up is a manual process Faster service creation required Virtualization Limits Creation of VMs not aligned with VNs No clear migration paths to SDN and NFV

8 8 Areas of Focus for OCC Align server virtualization with network virtualization Virtualize what you can & centralize what you must V V irtualization Align server automation with network automation Extend use of Ethernet for automating cloud services A A utomation Create new standards for data collection & data privacy Unify regulatory best practices across key geographies S S ecurity Create common APIs for multi-vendor network mgmt Accelerate network management on top of OpenStack P P rogrammability Monitor application and device usage Optimize application performance and delivery A A nalytics

9 9 9 OCC Reference Architecture User devices and applications for cloud services have grown rapidly with little standardization. Enterprises want services that are on-demand, scalable, survivable and se- cure with usage-based billing. To meet these demands, service providers need to quickly create the services and utilize resources effectively. Cloud Services support these objectives. The OCC’s charter is to define standards and terms for Cloud Services including those based on Carrier Ethernet. This OCC Reference Architecture describes Cloud Services, actors, architectures, and standard interfaces for Cloud Services.
