16 Station Discussion Questions  Please draw the diagram shown on the sheet and answer the discussion questions For each set of monarchs and then complete the wrap up questions.  After you are done we will move on to the first part of the formative assessment of the lesson for honors and the final part of the formative assessment for standard.

17 Standard- Historical Stick Figures  Using the questions below and working with a partner, pick two absolute monarchs from different countries and compare and contrast them.  Make your poster informative and interesting. Remember- Content is always more important that creativity.  If you are artistically challenged, do your best but still try to be creative.  Hand in when done.

18 Honors- Political Cartoon Analysis  Reading Political Cartoons on the Age of Absolutism  Political cartoons often help us to see the different perspectives on people and events of different timeperiods in history.  This activity will help you to see varying perspectivesonthe rulers during the Age of Absolutism.   For each image, identify the ruler,view the detailsofthe cartoon,and look for any clues that will help you tobetter understand the perspective of the people or thecartoon creator.

19 Wrap-up Questions   1. What characteristics arecommon of the absolute rulers?   2. How are the common people seen or represented in the images?   3. Are the absolute rulers seen in a more positive ornegative light? Explain.   4. What differing perspectives do you seeof theabsolute rulers?   5. Based on these cartoons, and your studies on absolute rulers, justify  absolutism? Provide support for your response.   6. Based on these cartoons, and your studies on absolute rulers,describe the  problems with absolute rulers.Provide support for your response.

20 Absolute Monarch of the Year-Magazine Cover Create a newsmagazine cover such as Time. The final result should look clean and artistic like a magazine cover (colorful block letters, quality artwork, etc.)  The page can be laid out however you choose but must include ALL of the following:   Magazine Title   A central, important image for the “Cover Story” – your topic.   At least three (3) news story leads that go along with the cover story.   Each lead should have a title, and can include interviews, stories about events or people. You do not have to write the actual news story.   Each lead should be clear and easy to understand how it relates to your topic.  On the back of the paper, you must label and explain why you chose the title etc. that you did.

22 Absolutism Brochure:  A new museum is opening in Raleigh. The museum’s main attraction are its’ new exhibits on the Age of Absolutism. They need you to design an informational brochure for one of the five exhibits regarding the five major countries and their absolutist leaders. The countries are Germany, France, Spain, England, and Russia.  The museum curators want the brochure not only to be aesthetically pleasing but also highly informative. They need following information both on the inside and outside of the brochure.

23 Information Needed:  On the cover- At least three images/pictures/decorations relating to the country and family/rulers.  A title- representing the ruling family and country that they ruled. And the time span that they ruled. You can use exact dates or centuries.

24 Inside Front Cover:  A timeline of the beginning and end of the absolute rule of your country.  Include important dates regarding rulers, wars/battles, legislation/laws passed etc. there should be 6-8 items on your timeline.  On the bottom of that cover please list each ruler that was studied yesterday. Their names and reign.

25 Middle Part of Your Brochure:  Please write a small 5-7 sentences paragraph about the country and rulers that you were given.  Who are they? Why are they important?  What important events happened in their country?  What lasting effects did their rule have?  Put a image/map/or other picture relating to the country or family.

26 Third Column-Highlights  Top half- 2 Positive and 2 Negative effects of their rule in the country.  On the bottom half of the page, you should have at least 3 -5 little known facts for you monarchs or country during the time of absolutism.
