2. Why we’re here today… To give you an update on our strategies to increase breastfeeding rates by promoting the “Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.” Presented at Washington State Hospital Association Safe Table 11/19/2013

3. The Evidence-Based Hospital Breastfeeding Support (EBBS) Learning Collaborative Goal: To increase the number of birthing hospitals in Washington State that provide evidence-based breastfeeding support. Presented at Washington State Hospital Association Safe Table 11/19/2013

4. Status of EBBS 100% of participating hospitals have policies reflecting “The Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.” Completed five trainings for 147 providers, 293 RNs and other staff to meet the Baby-Friendly™ standard for staff education. Several hospitals started the 4-D pathway with Baby- Friendly™ USA. Several hospitals stopped giving out discharge bags with formula. 5. Excellence in State Public Health Law Vision: Create an epidemic of healthy weight in Washington State. Goal: 100% of birthing hospitals in Washington achieve the Baby Friendly™ designation.
