What is a miracle? Christians believe that Jesus performed many miracles, all of which showed God’s power at work.
What miracles do you know? 1.Jesus walks on water 2.Jesus calms the storm 3.Jesus heals the blind man, leper, girl… 4.Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead 5.Jesus turns water into wine 6.Jesus heals the paralysed man
Jesus got in the boat and sailed off to a solitary place. When the crowds heard this, they followed him on foot from the towns. As Jesus landed he saw the large crowd and had compassion on them, healing their sick. Jesus feeds five thousand
As evening approached the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” “This boy here has offered us his lunch - five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. Jesus feeds five thousand
“Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children. Jesus feeds five thousand
Your challenge! Send a Cow’s Big Picnic Christians believe that God can use whatever we offer him, just as Jesus used the boy’s small offering to feed 5000 people! Your challenge is to organise a picnic! See how much money you can collect for Send a Cow, to help us work with people who live in poverty in Africa, so that they can learn to feed themselves.
Your challenge! Perhaps you could put out 12 empty baskets at your picnic and invite people to make a donation to the work or Send a Cow. How much would you gather in?
