1 MY STEWARDSHIP And THE NEW PACT BEING PAPER PRESENTED @ YEWA TALK SERIES 3 ORGANISED BY YEWA UNION. LAGOS ON SAT AUGUST 16 TH, 2014

2 INTRODUCTION My foray into politics was influenced by 3 major factors The political and community development activities of my father as the Asiwaju of Owode which i have the opportunity to observe first hand. My exposure as a member of the students union government of the polytechnic Ibadan. Again in 2011, by the favour of God and the pleasure of the people of Yewa South/Ipokia, I was returned to the House of Representative.

26 THE NEW PACT I am currently in the race for the office of Governor of Ogun State come 2015. The New Pact which is the title of our manifesto envisions a people centered Ogun State with first class service delivery, quality living and protected human dignity. The central theme of the NEW PACT are the people of Ogun State, their aspiration and desires which we hope to balance and make a reality through our policies and programmes.

27 THE NEW PACT HAS 5 ARTICLES:- Capacity building and full employment. Sustainable urban and rural re-construction. Universal access to qualitative healthcare and education. Food security and Agricultural entrepreneurship development. Economic diversification and Revenue generation.

The cash crop policy of the state government will focus on crops that thrive well in Yewa land particularly cotton, kenaf, cassava, oil palm and cocoa. A strategic link will be established between the College of Technology in Igbesa and the Science/Industrial Park being developed in Owode-Yewa. Rural road especially farm to market roads will be given special attention. The road networks in Yewa (Federal and State) will be focused on. There is a current process to upgrade the 3 schools of Nursing in Ogun State to College of Nursing. We hope to focus on Ilaro as beneficiary of this upgrade.

We hope to facilitate agro-processing industries to the area. – Kenaf processing – Cotton processing – Tomato, Cashew nut – Cassava processing: flour, garri, fufu – Bamboo furniture factory – Sports school of excellence in Ilaro. Filling of Yewa quota in all employment at State and Federal levels. Commensurate appointments for Yewa sons and daughters at state and federal levels.

30 THE STORY OF 2011 The events of 2011 as it concerns Ogun State West is well known to us. Permit me to use this opportunity to put on record my roles. PDP factionalised into JMK and OGD groups around year 2009 I pitched my tent with the JMK group By early 2011, the JMK group adopted me as their consensus gubernatorial candidate. I left PDP to ACN out of principle to protest an injustice done to me In the ACN I contested for the gubernatorial position and was prevailed on to accept the HOR by the leaders of the party
