2 UAS Mission Statement:
Universal American School provides a challenging, inquiry-based American and international education that empowers students to be caring individuals, critical thinkers, and responsible global citizens. UAS Philosophy: Universal American School provides an American and international program of instruction and co-curricular activities that aims to develop the full potential of all students. The curriculum for Pre-K to 6th grade is the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). A conceptually-based curriculum in grades 7 to 10 prepares students for entry into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in grades 11 and 12. UAS Belief Statements: We believe the Universal American School community should: Challenge themselves academically, artistically and athletically Think and act critically, creatively and independently Communicate proficiently in English and at least one other language Be internationally-minded leaders who participate in local and international projects that better humanity and contribute to a sustainable and peaceful world Conduct themselves in a principled manner Enjoy positive and healthy lifestyle

Philosophy of the Arabic Department: The Arabic department encourages students to become Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers and Balanced. We are committed to provide equal opportunities for all students to explore, understand and gain world and self-knowledge. It is our responsibility to provide resources for language development, in school and within the community to be sure that we are establishing attributes that promote international – mindedness and the ability to communicate in a correct Arabic dialect through various methods (listening, reading, speaking, writing, viewing). فلسفة قسم اللغة العربية: قسم اللغة العربية في المدرسة العالمية الاميركية يُشَجِّعُ المتعلمين على أَنْ يكونوا : باحثين ، و واسعي المعرفة ، ومفكرين ، ومتواصلين ، و مسؤولين ، و متفتحين عقلياً، و مهتمين ، و مجازفين ، و متوازنين. نحن ملتزمون بتقديم فرص متساوية لجميع التلاميذ لاكتشاف، وفهم ، و اكتساب المعارف العالمية و الشخصية . تقع على مسؤوليتنا تزويد المتعلمين بالمصادر والمراجع التعليمية لتطوير مهاراتهم اللغوية في المدرسة و المجتمع للتأكد من اكتساب المتعلمين للسمات التي تدعو إليها العقلية الدولية ، و القدرة على التواصل و التعبير عنها بلغة عربية سليمة، و ذلك من خلال وسائل و طرق متنوعة ( الاستماع ، القراءة، التحدث، الكتابة، و المشاهدة ) .

Make the Arabic language a “Living Language” Nurture the students to become “Long-Life-Learners”! Meeting the KHDA and IB standards. أهداف قسم اللغة العربية: جَعْلُ اللغة العربية لغةً حية يتفاعل الطلبة معها في حياتهم اليومية. رعاية الطلبة و تنمية قدراتهم ليتبنى الطلبة مفهوم التعلم المستمر. تحقيق المعايير الخاصة بهيئة المعرفة و التنمية البشرية و المعاير الخاصة بمنظمة IB.

5 The Different Between Management and Leadership
Leadership is the ability to meet the needs of those who make up the organization, those who depend on the organization. It is not about how to manage a department, it is about how to coordinate a team! Leading the Arabic Department Weekly staff meeting. Weekly meeting: Planning. Time line. Integration Achievements & ways of improvements Following up with students’ attainments and progress Teachers Meeting ( Arabs with non—Arabs): Co - Planning. PYP Units. Integration /Reflection. Special events SEN/ ILP: Support program with cooperation of homeroom teacher and parents Periodic meeting with each grade level team.

7 The cooperation between the department head and the school’s principal and director in decision- making: Frequent meetings for department’s improvement. Participation in creating the Action Plan. Assisting in new staff hiring. The School’s Principal and Director Head of Arabic Department Cooperating in Teachers’ evaluation processes. Supporting the resources of Arabic Department.
