10 Music is not real. In other words, it isn’t really present in the scenes we watch in film, and neither are we. Hence, it acts as an intermediary between us and the actors and actions we see visually. Because music has different personal meanings for different people it has a special meaning for each of us. Without it, film is distanced, separate, abstract. With it, film is personalized, part of us, and individual. Music is not real.
