3. Efficient energy design and management are essential to ensure the efficient energy usage, cut energy cost and improve environmental quality. Three phases of energy management:(Planning, Implementing, Monitoring and Evaluation). Case study in Kapit: –Usage of max 10kW but generator system provided supply 30kW of energy. –The use of energy inefficient devices such fluorescent lamp contributes to energy wastage. –Replacing energy efficient devices can reduce electricity consumption by half. –Energy planning that takes into consideration factors such as resource depletion, supply production, cost, security of supply and also impact must be strategized. 7. Conclusion Better energy management and design may contribute to cheaper operational cost. Avoiding unnecessary consumption of energy or choosing the most appropriate equipment to reduce the cost of the energy helps to decrease individual energy consumption without decreasing individual welfare. It will benefit rural community including those in the homestay industry and small industry.
