2 Pre-match Protocol with Pre-match Ceremonies 1.End of timed warm-up 2.Pre-match ceremonies (anthem, introductions, etc. as determined by the host school and discussed during the pre-match conference) 3.Teams are released to the net to wish the opponent good luck 4.Teams return to their team bench 5.Match officials take their positions on the court 6.The first referee (R1) directs the six starting players to their endline. The libero is not a starting player. 7.When all match officials are ready, the R1 beckons the starters to their positions 8.The second referee (R2) checks the on court lineup from his/her lineup card 9.The R2 beckons the libero (if used) onto the court 10. The R2 presents the court ready for play to the R1

3 COURT PROTOCOL Pre-match Protocol with No Pre-match Ceremonies 1. End of timed warm-up 2. Match officials take their positions on the court. 3. The first referee (R1) directs the six starting players to their endline. The libero is not a starting player. 4. When all match officials are ready, the R1 beckons the starters to the net to wish the opponent good luck and then to their court positions. 5.The second referee (R2) checks the on court lineup from his/her lineup card. 6. The R2 beckons the libero (if used) onto the court. 7. The R2 presents the court ready for play to the R1.

4 COURT PROTOCOL End of Set Protocol—Non-Deciding Set 1.R1 whistles the deciding point by the winning team 2.R1 signals “end of set” and directs the teams to their respective end line 3. R2 verifies the score with the scorer 4. R2 verifies the score with the R1 5. R1 whistles and directs the teams to their respective benches 6. R2 signals the timer to begins timing the three minutes interval between sets

5 COURT PROTOCOL End of Set Protocol—Prior to the Deciding Set 1. R1 whistles the deciding point by the winning team 2. R1 signals “end of set” and directs the teams to their respective end line 3. R2 verifies the score with the scorer 4. R2 verifies the score with the R1 5. R1 calls the floor captains to center court for the coin toss 6. R1 releases the remaining team members to their respective team benches 7. The home team calls the toss. Winner may choose a court, serve, or receive 8. R1 whistles and signals the teams to their appropriate team bench 9. R2 signals the timer to start the three minute interval between sets and notifies the scorer who is serving first

R2 verifies the score with the scorer 4. R2 verifies the score with the R1 5. R1 whistles and releases the players from their end lines (typically to the net to shake hands) 6. R1 initials the score sheet making the match official
